Cluck…Cluck…Cluck

That is the sound of the mother hen in me when I hear my husband being to harsh, teasing or being what I perceive to be unfair to my beloved daughters. He is an awesome father, mind you, however, he can be a bit short and sometimes he causes my feathers to ruffle...For example, I'll be in the kitchen cooking dinner and I'll hear him and my youngest getting hostile over a game. I can hear him trying to explain something to our heard-headed daughter in a not as patient as he could be way.My feathers rustle... Cluck...Cluck...Cluck Normally, I would come rushing in and defend my beloved offspring. After all, I was designed to protect my young! I must be "right" to do this. I am a Mother for crying out loud!Unfortunately, running into the room to "defend" my baby in front of her father is not a good thing for my marriage. It makes my husband feel dishonored and emasculated. NOT good. And, let me tell you, I am a tigress when it comes to my sweet girls.Inevitably, we wind up in a fight and I have completely stepped out of my helper role and into a mother role towards my husband...all in front of my daughters. NOT good.I should be training them to be honoring wives who HELP their husbands--not hinder them. They should see me in my proper role and living out reverence before them.
